Integral Tarot - CD Treasure Chest is a set of seven CD's that act as a compliment to author Suzanne Wagner's book Integral Tarot. Essentially, this is the book in CD format, and it is a treasure, with the ability to stand on its own! It is part of a series of tools of self empowerment that include "Integral Numerology", the Integral Tarot Meditation CD Set and the aforementioned "Integral Tarot" book.
Synchronicity strikes when you least expect it - the foundation for Suzanne's Tarot work is the Thoth Tarot, and I am currently doing teleconferences with a small group of sight impaired students that use the Thoth Tarot as their working deck. What a gift to them a CD set like this is!
There is an index of the cards, listed by disc, in the pamphlet that accompanies the CD set, making it very easy to either access the cards on an individual basis, or work with them in sequence. Because they are portable, you can listen to the CD's while you drive, take them to work, or anywhere else that you wish to go. In my mind, I see myself listening to them while sitting out in my back yard on a nice day, with no other thought than relaxing and absorbing their content. Suzanne's voice is soft and flowing, lending quality to an already high quality product. The gentle into music that introduces the listener to each of the cards is so well woven into the fabric of the CD's that it all seems as one - there is no thought of "Hey, great music!", it is simply part of a great presentation. Kudos to Derek Keith for his work here!
Suzanne's focus on teaching the Tarot is on integrating the energy of the cards into everyday life. The esoteric content is still there, but the emphasis is how to work with the energy on a personal basis. To that end, the section on the Major Arcana is broken down into physical, emotional and spiritual levels, with upright and reversed interpretations and a unique take on the Yes/No association with each card.
The same Yes/No association carries into the Court cards, with another unique addition: positive and negative card associations, as well as upright and reversed interpretations. With the Pips (the numbered cards of the Tarot), the unique addition to the presentation is an affirmation.
Integral Tarot lends itself to individual work, as well as group settings. As a wonderful bonus, Suzanne has included her Yes/No Spread, as well as her modified Celtic Cross Spread in the accompanying pamphlet.
I certainly hope that this is the wave of the future for Tarot - that we incorporate technology in all forms into our ancient archetypes!
