Review by 6 Haunted Days
Wow, this was a vibrant fun surprise when I received this deck in the mail. It's fairly new and kinda overlooked Tarot one desn't hear much about. What a shame! This a charming, whimsical and very creative deck.
The artist is a very well known German graphic designer, winning all kinds of awards, and I for one, am very glad she turned her talents towards the creation of these 78 cards.
The colour palette is a definite highlight of this deck. Purples, pinks, baby blues, spring green, lavender etc. The characters are oddly coloured, which completes the surreal, lush strangeness of these images and scenes. It follows the Rider-Waite style fairly closely with some creative differences. I just the love weird "bird people"...hard to explain! :)
The backs are very vibrant with an argyle pattern with alternating deep pink/lavender grid, a pea-green sun with a face and 4 blue flowers, it's not reverseable for those interested. The cards are of great lightly laminated quality, and are of average size. They shuffle excellently.
The "little white book" that comes with every deck is with the Kitty Kahane a little gem in full colour called "The Magic Mirrors of Kitty Kahane's Tarot" and written by Lilo Schwarz a swiss Psychologist and Tarot expert. The interpertations for each card are insightful and have many unique observations and thoughts. 7 interesting and varied 4 card spreads are included. Some great info on the art, artist, writer and how to learn, use and immerse yourself in the images and readings. This mini-book (56 pgs.) is a shiny treasure among the sea of replica, boring and uninspired LWB's that usually accompany decks.
All in all this is a very unusual and strange deck, I think many would love it's quirkiness and striking use of of odd colours (and will awaken their sense of play, creativity and adventure), this kind of tarot you just don't see very often. Highly recommended!
