Solandia's Top Ten Tarot Decks

I'm Kate Hill, long known in the Tarot world as Solandia, and I am the owner and editor of Aeclectic Tarot. I've reviewed, read with, and admired well over a thousand different tarot decks over the years, starting way back in the nineties with the Hanson-Roberts Tarot.

These are my own top ten decks of all time: those quality decks that set the standard, stood the test of time, or brought something brand new to tarot.

My Top Ten of All Time

Aleister Crowley Thoth Tarot
The complex and fascinating deck from one of the most famous occultists and Golden Dawn members, Aleister Crowley, and illustrated by Frieda Harris.

Tarot de Marseille Pierre Madenie 1709
An accurate and incredibly faithful reproduction of one of the earliest known Marseilles decks, which was originally created in Dijon in 1709.

Dame Fortune's Wheel Tarot
Based on Paul Huson's historical research, his tarot deck blends the symbolism of the Marseilles in its major arcana with Etteilla-inspired, fully illustrated minors.

Lo Scarabeo Tarot
The three fundamental strands of tarot - Marseilles, Rider-Waite and Thoth - are merged into one unique and deceptively powerful tarot.

Tarot of the Sevenfold Mystery
Robert Place's elegant and beautifully coloured illustrations are blended with his deep knowledge of tarot and alchemy.

Osho-Zen Tarot
A classic deck from the nineties, with illustrations of the human experience from the sublimely beautiful to the ridiculously mundane.

Golden Tarot
Kat Black's seamless and thoughtful collage of medieval and Renaissance artwork illustrates 78 beginner-friendly tarot cards.

Gay Tarot
Lee Bursten's first tarot deck brought tarot into the modern world, illustrating contemporary culture as well as scenes and imagery.

Fey Tarot
A non-traditional and playful tarot of unexpected charm and simplicity from Riccardo Minetti and Mara Aghem.
