The Artist's Concept
The key word for the Five of Swords in the World Spirit Tarot is “defeat” and this is very evident in the card. I also wanted to show that despite feeling defeated, there is still hope and room for new directions.
The Five of Swords shows a young man huddled in a corner, not willing to look up. Above him float five swords like dark shadows. These are the swords of his imagination, which he believes are a terrible obstacle. If he were to look up he would see that a beam of light is shining from above. Next to him a vine is starting to grow towards this light. A hint of green can be seen in the light, suggesting new a forest of growth outside. When the vine grows towards the light it will be easy for the young man to climb out of this predicament.
Card Meaning
When the Five of Swords appears in a reading you are feeling an overwhelming sense of defeat. It seems that everyone is out to get you or there is no way out. If you stop pitying yourself and just look around you will see that this is only a minor setback and your problems can be overcome. With some careful reassessment you will be free to accomplish your goals again before too long.
