The Artist's Concept
I have always admired that the good King of Pentacles amassed all his riches by his competence, practical ideas and the sweat of his brow. He enjoys what he has accomplished. Though he is generous, his home comes first. He has a deep love of the Earth. My family may lack the luxury of the King of Pentacles, but we share his appreciation of the results of thought and hard work.
In the King of Pentacles, I see an accomplished and enterprising individual whose extraordinary wealth is measured in more than gold. This King of Pentacles is satisfied, confident, and competent. The sun shines on this king as he sits on a high vista. His vantage point symbolizes his intelligence, the rock upon which he sits shows that he is in touch with the Earth. His wealth is evident by the pentacles scattered at his feet and his beloved lands and castle in the background. He has everything anyone could want, but it’s not the ‘Midas Touch’ that has given him what he has. His riches come from his common sense, hard work, and practical ideas. His sleeves are rolled up and his manner of dress is sensible for someone who doesn’t mind toiling. The glass of wine shows that he enjoys his wealth and appreciates the gifts from the Earth. The depth of the valley emphasizes his deep love for the Earth.
Card Meaning
The King of Pentacles conveys a feeling of great wealth and comfort. When he appears in a reading it can represent a person who has the qualities of confidence and competence, and a person of common sense and intelligence. A person who has material and spiritual wealth, a person who has earned his wealth with his practical ideas and hard work, a person well grounded, and who has a deep respect for the Earth. Be inspired by this good king. The King of Pentacles can also mean that you need to take the kind of actions he would take to accomplish a goal, to realize an idea, or to take the time to enjoy the fruit of your labors.
I don't use reversals. The meaning is the meaning in any position.
