Description

A young woman stands on the brink of the day, already having begun the repetitive work of cutting boards to just the right length near the schoolhouse. It is a new skill, as is the day. She has learned this skill and is perfecting and honing it, being very diligent, as she knows the boards will be used to build bigger and better things.

Symbolism & Meaning

This card, much like the RWS is about perfecting a skill. It is about hard work and industrious production. It shows the repetitive work of diligent persistence in a possibly dull task. Although my meaning is much the same as the RWS I have more of an emphasis on this skill being a necessary task that is only a step in a larger process, as are the boards which will later be used to build a home or a school. Although the task may be tedious, the need to have the perfect lumber in order to create a better home or school drives the will to produce well. To me this card is about acquiring skill or knowledge while loving the learning for the sake of it. It is about education and knowing that each step in a learning process can be savoured, keeping the end product in mind while taking the time to create every element as soundly as possible. We are our own end product. As we create, hone, and perfect each aspect of our own selves, we must remember to take the time to be diligent in producing the quality characteristics that will ultimately make us the best individuals we can be.

Artistic Media

Coloured pencil some minor computer enhancement to brighten the colours.

Artist's Bio

I have been working with tarot for only less than a year, yet it has grown to be a very important part of my life. I have collected many decks and have found the Fey to be my favourite. I am a mom of two beautiful children, a boy and a girl and have taught special education for eleven years. I am currently working on my Master's degree in educational leadership and plan to become a principal as soon as possible.
