Description
The Devil contains a demon-like version of my face with snake’s
scales and eyes overlooking a glowing rose with a spider crawling
on it. Below this crouches another version of me, naked and vulnerable.
The whole lot is encased with a tangled spider’s web.
Symbolism
The symbols I used are similar to those in the RW design but
in a slightly different way. It is important to the design that
the demon is the same person as the crouched person. To me, the
Devil is not an external force but an aspect of ourselves, for
good or bad. The rose represents passion in the extreme. If we
go too far with passions they can lead to obsession and addiction.
The spider represents this hidden aspect and the tangled web is
the idea of being trapped before you really know it.
Card Meaning
If this Devil was to appear in a reading for you, you may need
to live a little. Allow yourself to enjoy the excesses of life
and live for the moment. However, you may be doing this too much
and are becoming a slave to excess and that lifestyle. You need
to be in control some of the time and ensure that you do it all
safely. Letting your inner demon rise above you can be dangerous
so acknowledge it and work with it, don’t be a slave to
it.
Artistic Media
I used my digital camera and PhotoShop to put all these images
together. All the photos used were taken by me, in and around
my home.
Artist's Bio
I am the happiest I have been in my entire life. I recently gave
up my first ‘career’ after only three years and am
back at College perusing the dream job. I am studying Graphic
Design and right now, and love it. Can’t wait to find out
what tomorrow may bring!
