Description
A Canada goose pauses on a grassy promontory above a lake before a nest of seven eggs.
Symbolism
I decided against painting the goose eggs as golden - the famous golden eggs of the fairy-tale do not hatch. No, this is a nest of live goose eggs being incubated. It is possible that not all the goose eggs are fertilized, and possibly of those that are, not all will hatch, and of those that hatch, only a few will make it to survival. The odds for goslings are steep.
Card Meaning
The hard work has been done, now it is time for quiet watchfulness, a time of incubation, and waiting to see how things will develop. Rather than following the GD sense, of 'lord of success unfulfilled', I prefer to see this card as success not yet fulfilled. Material success in some form is on its way; it is time to 'let go and let God' without being too attached to a particular outcome.
Artistic Media
Free-hand sketch in pencil, completed with Albrecht Dürer Water Colour Pencils, and transparent and opaque watercolours (gouache), on cold press paper. Framed using Photoshop.
Artist's Bio
Firemaiden, 43, was kidnapped into the cyber world of tarot three years ago while residing in Berlin in pursuit of an opera career. She discovered the Book of Thoth online which led to the purchase of one innocent little pocket size copy of the Thoth deck with German keywords, and it has been a hopeless descent into tarot addiction ever since. Firemaiden loves to do readings for others, and particularly enjoys doing spoof readings. Originally trained as a ballet dancer and choreographer, she studied French literature in college, until finally turning to opera. Firemaiden now lives in Mendocino, California.
