Description

The Queen of Wands stands front and center before a fiery background. There is a hint of chaos, yet beauty within the fire. Our Queen stands confident and happy, at home with her wands, despite the unsettled situation behind her. Approaching her from her right is a small butterfly. The butterfly is on a mission to reach his destination. Perhaps this is why the Queen is smiling?

Symbolism

The symbolism I used is in homage to the major event in my life in 2004, meeting Gardener.

The background is an oil painting by her, showcasing one of her many talents. This painting was inspired by her love for the Margarete Petersen deck. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it hanging on her wall in Ottawa (it now hangs on our bedroom wall). To me it depicts the fire and energy in her spirit.

The photo of the Queen is none other than Gardener herself, taken shortly before we met for the first time. It showcases her love for flowers. These flowers have become her wands. Note the tender control she possesses clutching them.

The butterfly depicts me. The concept of the butterfly was the result of a reading Lunakasha did for me around the time Gardener and I met. She pulled the Eight of Swords from the Gendron deck and used the analogy that my life at the time had me trapped in a situation that only I had the power to escape - the butterfly in that card was my ultimate escape.

Card Meaning

Confidence, energy, creativity, charm, or a person possessing these qualities. Feminine energy. If representing a person, she/he will light up a room with her/his presence.

Artistic Media

Combination of Oil Paint (background) and photos. Compiled in Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0.
