Description

A tigress, one of the mightiest animals, lies dead in molten lava where he melts away. Her soul takes flight in bubbles, away to a cool sky.

Symbolism

The tiger symbolizes intelligence. It is an animal that needs a strong mind and will to survive in a nature so overtaken by men. But this time it is nature itself that overwhelms the animal. Although in most 10 of Swords cards one will see the swords I have chosen for bubbles as they depict air even better. As there are also tarotreaders who choose fire to be the subject of swords I found molten lava, fire and bubbles the perfect combination so all will recognize what is important in this card. The moon is guiding the bubbles into a cool sky where the soul can come to rest and start again the circle of swords.

Card Meaning

Misfortune, or at least the thought that all is falling apart. Excessive pain, be it mental or physical. Being a victim. Life loosing its meaning. Being vulnerable at the most, turning the other cheek as well. Martyrdom. Being at a point where things cannot get worse, only better.

Artistic Media

A black and white photo of a sleeping tigress in the Zoo of Rotterdam, a photo in Tel Aviv at the beach. The lava-like ground I made in Photofiltre which I also used to combine the photo's into one picture. The fire is from Rosh Hashana fires in Amsterdam a few years ago. Rosh Hashana is the Jewish new year and the fire is burning away the old and welcoming the new, which I found a comforting thought for this card. The bubbles are actually one bubble which was made with toy-bubbles for the cats and then photographed and copied nine times.
