Description
A strong mother figure stands with a two ended staff shaping the the mists to her design.
Symbolism
The Queen of Wands contains the water aspect of the Queens and the Fire aspect of the Wands suit. The feminine creative force. She is a person who can channel natural female forces and shape them with the passion and energy of flame. A strong and outgoing person at the center of things, keeping the world around her moving and evolving. Constantly transforming the old into the new. Her magic is steam, in which anything can take shape, of which any form can be molded.
Card Meaning
Her staff is pronged on both sides because I was thinking of a light bulb filament. Her creative passion flows across the staff and then rotates to shape the world around her. The figure is based on one of the more powerful female artists I know. The tattoo at the lower quadrant of her back is both the wave and the flame, set at the point which supports an upright spine. The wheel design is a woven horn revolving in six parts.
Artistic Media
The card image is a compilation of multiple mediums. The figure herself is a digitally manipulated sketch. The drawing was done on tracing paper then photographed with a shop light behind it to create the luminous light burst in the center. The horn wheel was drawn then digitized then silk screened then digitized again. Each layer was tweaked and stacked in Corel Draw to create the final card.
Artist's Bio
Ankou is a designer and stagehand in the DC area. She really just can't help but to constantly make things, much to the chagrin of her husband who is also an artist and has run out of wall space to hang everything. Since learning how to create digital images she is now filling up as many K of disk space as possible.
