10 - Scythe

by le pendu

Astrological Symbol Significance

The astrological symbol for Virgo, the astrological association for this card.

Playing Card Symbol Interpretation

Jack of Diamonds

A young person with dark eyes, wearing a uniform.

Artists Personal Symbol

I used the rune Jera, representing completion of a cycle, here the harvest.

Card Description

It is the time of harvest. A woman who works the land stands before you. She holds a scythe in her hand. She wears the rune Jera on a necklace. You can see that her hands are worn, her arms are scratched. She has completed her task,?the bales are collected behind her. Her demeanor is strong. She is in tune with the?rhythm?of nature. In her hand she presents the Jack of Diamonds to you. In the distance, birds are flying south, completing their cycle.

Card Interpretation

Danger from the direction of where the scythe blade is pointing. If positive card are surrounding this one, the Querant will overcome any malice or harm. Sudden and impacting. Beginnings and Endings.

My personal sense is that the card should convey a sense of a completed cycle. Something has ended, the wheel turns, something begins.

Artistic Media

The card was created on a lovely Apple Macintosh using Poser, Carrara, and Photoshop. The Jack of Diamonds is from an antique deck restored by Jean-Claude Flornoy.
