Nature's Healing Oracle Review by Bonnie Cehovet

Ambika Wauters is a registered classical homeopath and a trained bioenergetic psychotherapist. She is the author of ten books on healing and spirituality, and is a workshop facilitator and trainer. Her work comes from the heart, showing compassion, caring and great insight. Nature's Healing Oracle is a very powerful tool for reconnecting with the "green world" around us. In learning to heal ourselves in a holistic manner, we learn to recognize and honor the power inherent in the plant world that surrounds us.

Wauters does a highly credible job of going into the background of oracles in general, and how they fit into the human picture. She talks about imagery, and how everyday imagery is elevated into the imagery of archetypes. This is a very important process, as imagery and archetypes are an integral part of what is termed "individuation" ... a Jungian concept that refers to becoming a whole person.

In our spiritual evolution, oracles become gateways into archetypal wisdom. They allow us to go beyond our personal mental boundaries and see without judgment. With the use of an oracle, we can detach ourselves from our wishes, hopes and fears, and see the answer that is before us.

Wauters also touches on something that I feel is an integral part of oracle work, and that is learning the protocol for approaching an oracle ( I would call it understanding and respecting the process). We have to be willing to surrender our left brain, analytical side and submit to the Source of our higher mind.

The focus of Nature's Healing Oracle is that we can work with the power inherent in nature to heal ourselves. In this oracle, Wauters has defined three distinct healing methods: aromatherapy - using the distilled oils from plants, trees and flowers; homeopathy - working with diluted substances; and herbalism, which uses the healing powers of herbs.

The cards themselves are broken down into four categories: Essential Elements (life's essentials, such as salt, pepper, oil and honey); Herbs and Flowers; Grains, Legumes and Vegetables; and Fruits. Each category represents a different area in our life: Essential Elements is symbolic of happiness and well being; Herbs and Flowers represents our feelings; Grains, Legumes and Vegetables represents foundations, stabilizing factors and change; Fruits represents the fruits of our labors, and they imply positive outcomes, stability and strength.

Each card is presented with a small color graphic of the plant being worked with, a description of how the plant works, its esoteric meaning, and a short affirmation that allows the reader to place the energy of the plant to best use in their life.

At the end of the book (approximately 5" by 7", hard cover, full color, 71 pages) Wauters gives several different spreads to use for reading. Included are a one card spread representing the present, a two card yes/no spread, a three card past/present/furute spread, a five-card wisdom spread, a six card spread focused on grounding; and a seven card spread resolution spread.

The 30 cards, and the book, are full color and of the highest quality. The cards themselves are approximately 3 1/4" by 5", high quality glossy cardstock, color coded for each of the four categories (Elements is a dark lavender; Herbs and Flowers is a forest green; Grains, Legumes and Vegetables is a light brown; fruits and flowers is a light yellow).

The faces of the cards show a colored background, with the title of the category forming a running border around the entire card in light colors and small letters. The name of the plant is in larger white lettering above and below a picture of the plant. The back of each card shows the same background color and border, with a large, co-ordinating frame in the middle of the card listing the meaning of the plant, what the plant is beneficial for, and a short affirmation to use when working with the energy of this plant. (Note: You can work with the energy of plants in two basic ways: honoring the energy of those that are already in your life, or calling into your life those that you need assistance from.)

One of the plants represented under the category of Fruits is the Lemon Tree. The graphic on this card shows a cluster of beautiful lemon colored fruit amongst green foliage. The meaning given for Lemon is forgiveness, and its beneficial uses include sore throats (remember those old home remedies for colds, and the frequent use of honey and lemon!), indigestion, and hypertension. The affirmation given is: "I forgive the past and release all attachment to pain."

One of the plants listed under Grains, Legumes and Vegetables is Wheat. The graphic is a beautiful picture of shafts of wheat in a field. The meaning is given as stability, and its beneficial uses include anemia, anxiety, and enriching the complexion. The affirmation given is: "I am stable as I make my way through life's changes."

A beautiful yellow Rose, in full bloom, is one of the plants in the category of Herbs and Flowers. The meaning given is that of a sense of perfection, and its beneficial uses include muscle cramps and spasms, releasing panic and calming the mind and body. The affirmation given is: "I affirm that I am perfect just the way I am."

The graphic for Pepper, under the category of Essential Elements, is a small pepper grinder grinding pepper over a beautiful green lettuce leaf. The meaning for Pepper is given as a sense of purpose, and its beneficial uses are listed as colds, sore throats, flu and lung congestion. The affirmation given is: "I seek fulfillment and purpose in all that I do."

The quality of this deck - the writing, the information shared, the graphics, the use of full color throughout - makes this oracle a must have item. I have begun working with this deck by drawing a card a day, and plan to continue to do so. I find you and peace here, and I believe that you will also.
