The Artist's Concept
I think of defensive behaviour when I see this card.
Wearing his green suit, the Knight of Pentacles leans poised against his pale green Ferrari. The wheel cover of the car is a coin. The environment is green and behind the Knight we see further symbols of wealth - a farmhouse and windmill. The frame surrounding the card is green to symbolise the element earth.
Card Meaning
(from The Pictorial Key to the Tarot by Arthur Edward Waite)
"Utility, serviceableness, interest, responsibility, rectitude ['strict honesty' - Editor] - all on the normal or external plane.
Reversed: Inertia, idleness, [or] repose of that kind, stagnation; also placidity, discouragement, carelessness."
