The Artist's Concept

The Page of Wands was a card that I'd never paid much attention to. It never seemed to come up in my readings. This project gave me the opportunity to get better acquainted with the Card. Now that I've had a chance to study the Page of Wands, whenever I see him in another deck I get a feeling of recognition. I think of the excitement of important news or a new adventure. There's always a little surge of adrenaline when I pull out the Page of Wands. I feel like there's a risk that needs to be taken soon. To me, he also represents the part of me that wants to skydive or drive faster. He's the eighteen-year-old inside me who isn't afraid to face challenges or do something outrageous!

I have created a card that fits with the traditional image of the Page of Wands: a young man holding a wand, or letter. He is wearing a backpack and gesturing towards the road, hoping you will go on the adventure he is offering. The road is uphill. The dark forest and mountains behind show that there will be risks taken on this adventure. The border of the card is decorated with tree branches and leaves. I've always considered trees to be giant wands that channel energy from the sky to the earth, so that's why they're included in my card design. The Moon and Sun at the top of the border only symbolize themselves!

Card Meaning

When this card comes up in a reading I'd like people to feel the same rush of excitement that I do. I'd like them to see that the Page of Wands is offering an adventure or a risk if they'd only accept it. In some cases I see the Page of Wands offering news or information that will set you on a path to adventure. He is an exuberant, creative, youthful character.
