The Artist's Concept
Justice is not a difficult concept - everyone has at least some idea. For me it's the idea of getting just desserts. Everyone receives precisely what he or she has earned through his or her everyday thoughts and actions. Love is the law.
My Justice card depicts a smartly dressed woman sitting a table. On the table sit balance scales and Justice balances the end of the sword upright. Pillars and curtains complete the design, which is surrounded by a green frame symbolizing the path of Justice on the Tree of Life. The only real difference from traditional design is the addition of the table and this is to symbolize the physical world.
Card Meaning
(from The Magick of Tarot by Denning & Philips) "If this card denotes a person, this will be one given to considerateness, moderation, and fair dealing. If it points to the outcome of a problem situation (whether legal issues are involved or not) the signification is that a greater true justice for all concerned will be produced than might initially seemed possible. In any context this card stands for the reality of truth or justice rather than their external form. "
Reversed: This indicates legal complexities, a retreat into form and convention: the letters of the law, intolerance, condign ['suitable'-Editor] punishment, lynch law."
