Rainbow Warrior Awaken!

The 'Rainbow Warrior Awaken! Your Journey of Guidance and Healing' cards are inspired by the wisdom of the Divine Feminine. There are 44 cards, divided into compass cards, color cards, and quality cards, each with gentle, semi-abstract art. The set comes with a 96-page guidebook, with poetry that complements each image.

Review by Susan M. Barron

When I first sat down to review Rainbow Warrior Awaken! Your Journey of Guidance and Healing, what appealed to me immediately was the originality of the concept and the bright, colorful, and original cards and card descriptions in the accompanying book. I have seen dozens of divination and spiritual guidance decks over the course of my lifetime, many of them treading on familiar ground; for instance, a seeker is often assisted by deities, fairies, unicorns, animals or angels, with the deities or supernatural creatures seen as representative of various virtues, and the seeker ends up consulting with a deity they might not be previously familiar with. While I have a couple of goddess-centric decks and love them, there are definitely times when I would like something I can read without having to look up various goddesses or supernatural creatures, distracting me as I debate their “fit” for my situation. Rainbow Warrior Awaken! fits this bill precisely. Instead of specific deities or other creatures, the majority of the 44 cards presented in this deck represent virtues, ideas, the chakras, the earth and spirit; useful categories for divination and personal assessment that don’t require extensive research or previous knowledge to access. How refreshing!

The 8 “Compass Cards” represent the start of your spiritual journey, with each representing a direction, a season, and a stage of life. (The directions are northern hemisphere-centric, but are still open enough to where they may be used by our sisters to the south.) The 8 “Color Cards” represent the chakras. The 24 “Quality Cards” reveal personal wisdoms gained and shared throughout our lifetimes.

The book that comes with the deck is beautifully rendered and offers the user instructions for use as well as insights into what it took to create this magnificent work of art. The introduction to the deck is something I found to be informative, inspirational and helpful in understanding how to use the cards. By the time I read the different types of instructions for use – doing a reading with the 3 types of cards, choosing a single card for daily meditation, and working on different levels of understanding depending on my growing familiarity with the deck itself through repeated readings – I felt confident that the creators of Rainbow Warrior Awaken! thought their project through. This enhanced by enjoyment of the deck and book, and the more readings I performed for myself (and later for a friend in need of some advice), the more I felt all the colors of the rainbow flowing through my words, thoughts, and visions.

I highly recommend this deck for both beginners and advanced users of tarot and oracle cards. It is a terrific take on oracle decks and it is original, easy to use, and complex enough to keep most any user interested for reading after reading!
