Shamanic Healing Oracle Cards Review by medusawink
The Shamanic Healing Oracle Cards are proof that good things come in small(ish) packages. This vibrant deck has been created with the intention of helping the seeker uncover the energies which influence situations, hinder or heal one's path, and offers insightful advice and spiritual guidance.
This 44 card deck has no Major or Minor Arcana, instead it is a linear progression of spiritual concepts. The titles of the cards reflect the intentions of the deck – Perception, Sacred Space, Omens, Growth, Anger, Self-Love, Reunion of Souls and so forth.
The cards measure 80 x 127 mm which makes them a similar size to many standard tarot decks. The card stock is superb – it is solid yet light and flexible with a smooth, high gloss finish. The cards sit nicely in the hands, with a good weight, and are easy to shuffle. The print quality is excellent – the images are concise and clear, with no blurring or ink bleeds.
The artwork consists of simple images mostly based in nature such as birds, trees, insects, with the occasional spiritual or mystical symbol such as Yin-Yang, the Triple Spiral, the Eye of Horus creeping in. The illustrations are charming, undemanding, direct, and effective. The artwork consists of simple images, hand drawn in chalk or pastel, and paint pens on a black background. The artist's palette focuses on vibrant colours – blues, greens, pinks, reds, yellows, and earthy tones.
Each illustration has it’s own individual frame or border in a neo-primitive style, as well as a slim, tan-coloured straight line border. The card’s number and title is listed under the illustration. The image on the back of the cards – a handprint with concentric circles in the middle of it, in a simple frame – is not reversible.
The cards and guidebook come packaged in a solid cardboard box with a high gloss wrapping featuring images from the deck as well as information about the cards. There is a ribbon loop to help open the lid, and magnetic closures to keep it shut, as well as ribbon hinges to prevent the lead from flopping open wide. The overall presentation is typical of the attention to detail and high quality of Schiffer’s products.
The 120 page guidebook by the card’s creator, Michelle A. Motuzas gives the user all the information they will need to use these deck with confidence. As well as a brief introduction which outlines the intended use of the cards there are brief chapters which cover preparation for reading the cards – grounding, shovelling, laying out the cards, scanning the layout, reading the cards, and summarising the layout. Three layouts are included – a one, three, five card layout – which have been developed specifically for this deck.
The divinatory meanings are short – a few direct paragraphs describing the situation depicted by the card, and advice which is wise, insightful, firm but gentle, and extremely useful. These cards are not intended to be read in reversed positions, and as such, have no reversed meanings.
This wonderful little deck of oracle cards is very responsive and extremely user-friendly.
