Major Tom's Tarot of Marseilles

Major Tom's Tarot of Marseilles is a unique deck based primarily on the iconography of the Dodal Marseilles, but with a modern twist in dress and attitude. First printed in a limited edition of 50 decks during the 2005 Melbourne International Tarot Conference, it's now also being published by Schiffer Books.

Major Tom's Tarot of Marseilles (2nd ed.)

This is the second edition of Major Tom's Tarot of Marseilles, published by Schiffer Books and accompanied by a 96-page book. Major Tom's deck updates the Marseilles by giving the major arcana and court card figures modern dress and costumes.

Management Tarot

The Management Tarot is a German deck targeted at business managers and leaders facing the challenges of the workplace. The majors and are fully illustrated but the minors are much simpler.

Manara: The Erotic Tarot

By Italian comic-book artist Milo Manara, this tarot is a mix of eroticism and fantasy. Its imagery is explicit, in the same way as the Casanova Tarot, but it doesn't go to the sexual extreme of the Priapo Tarot.

Mandala Astrological Tarot

Astrological symbols and round mandalas are prominent in this square-shaped deck. The artwork of the Mandala Astrological Tarot is very average.

Manga Tarot

The Manga Tarot is from Taiwanese artist Selena Lin who specialises in shojo, a romantic style of comic especially for teenage girls. Her 78 cards are pretty and filled with cute, big-eyed characters. Packaged as a set in a hinged, rigid cardboard box with a 64-page book.

Manga Tarot

This Manga Tarot is a a deck connected with the Eastern imagination, as illustrated in the comics known as manga. It has attractive artwork which is in the manga/anime style (but not exaggeratedly so), and the symbolism is fairly recognisable. There is one significant change however - cards that traditionally showed a man now show a woman, and vice versa.

Mansions of the Moon Tarot

A riot of colours and images, the collage art blends pictures from magazines and books into a cohesive and attractive deck. The Mansions of the Moon Tarot has been available in a majors-only, 22 card deck, or a standard 78 card deck.

Mantegna Tarot

This wonderful deck is a tarot ancestor, with only fifty cards. The Mantegna Tarot artwork, originally created in 1460, has been recoloured and highlighted with silver. What appears as mottled dark grey in the digital scans is actually bright silver foil.

Marco Benedetti's Tarot

The symbology of each card in the Marco Benedetti Tarot has been reduced down to its basic elements, and stylistic figures and a gold leaf background characterise the painted artwork of this Italian deck.

Margarete Petersen Tarot

These cards are from the 2002 edition of the German-published Margarete Petersen Tarot, which has now also been released in an English edition. The 78 cards have a dark border surrounding the magical and hauntingly beautiful art.

Marie-Claude Purro Tarot

The Marie-Claude Purro Tarot is from a Swiss artist of the same name. Her 22 cards are European-style, illustrated with swathes of colours, bold reds and strong darks. Now available in a limited edition printing from Adam McLean.

Marielisa Leboroni Tarot

The Marielisa Leboroni Tarot has woodblock print illustrations of its own style in dark ink on light paper. This is the 78 card black and white edition of the Italian deck that was previously printed as 22 cards in colour.

Maroon Tarot

The Maroon Tarot is a world of unearthly tarot illustrations filled with light and space. A digital fantasy deck from a Polish team, the major arcana are complete, and the minors are due to be completed in 2008.

Mary-El Tarot

The Mary-El Tarot is a very promising work-in-progress. The cards are fantastic oil paintings, wih a unique but arresting perspective on tarot symbology. A limited edition of the major arcana and four aces is now available.
